Are you facing the summer doldrums? Had enough of the beach and vacations? Summertime blues settling in? No? Ok, well, maybe you’re just wondering what to post on your Facebook wall to keep your customers engaged over the summer months. You need to catch their attention, but how? Here are three things you can do NOW to keep those customers coming back.
- Do a giveaway
Give something away for free – a sample of your products, free consult, free trial. I don’t recommend giving away a full-size item – after all you want people to buy, but give them something so they get a taste of what you have to offer and how fabulous your products are.In the below example, Henry & Co. does giveaways where they offer samples of various products. The giveaways are great, people stay engaged with their brand and then they get a nice little something to try out. I, for one, fell in love with their soaps when I won a free sample. (Side note: the below giveaway is still open. If you want a chance to win, just click on the image and answer their question!)
(Disclaimer: Evidently this type of giveaway violates Facebook’s terms which we were made aware of after the publication of this blog.)
- Post photos
People love photos. Your customers want to see things that you like or what your office looks like. Take photos, even if they are of things you see or do every day. Humans are visual creatures and love to “see” stories in photos. So create a series of photos. Promise to post a new one every week or every day; your audience will anticipate the photos and come back to your page to make sure they didn’t miss an installment. Dan Zarrella pulled together an infographic that gives info about likes, shares and comments on photo posts.ion interactive recently moved into a new space and has kept their customers informed about the progress of building out and moving into the space. Over the course of two months, they uploaded photos to their Facebook page and shared the progress with their customers. This helps their customers feel like they are a part of the changes and gives them a glimpse into ion’s culture.
- Look at reports
You don’t need fancy software to figure out what your audience likes and doesn’t like on your Facebook wall. Facebook’s insights can easily help you understand what your audience reacts to and interacts with. Your audience may love the questions you pose and will always answer them. But the business down the street may have better luck posting outside links and getting comments on that content. No two audiences react the same, so be sure to test things out and look at how your posts are performing. If you deliver the type of content your audience desires, they will keep coming back for more!
